President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov signed the Law «On Amendments to Some Legislative Acts of the Kyrgyz Republic in the field of protection from domestic, sexual and gender violence». The press service of the head of state reported.
The document was adopted by the Parliament on June 26, 2024. It provides for comprehensive assistance to people subjected to sexual, gender, domestic violence, elimination of impunity for perpetrators of violence, ensuring access to justice for victims of criminal assault, ensuring the rights and legitimate interests of victims, improving the effectiveness of officials conducting criminal and misdemeanor proceedings on sexual, gender, domestic violence.
The amendments affected the Criminal Code, the Code of Offences, the Criminal Executive Code, the Housing Code, the laws «On the Protection from Domestic Violence», «On Probation», «On the Internal Affairs Bodies of the Kyrgyz Republic» and «On the Bodies and Institutions of the Criminal Executive (Penitentiary) System».
