Kazakh opposition journalist Aidos Sadykov died in Kyiv. His wife Natalya Sadykova reported on Facebook.
It is known that the author of YouTube channel Base (Бәсе) died tonight in the hospital.
«Thirteen days Aidos fought for life in the intensive care unit, but a miracle did not happen,» Natalya Sadykova posted.
The couple moved to Kyiv from Kazakhstan in 2014.
The media reported that Aidos Sadykov was subjected to criminal prosecution in his homeland, as he himself claimed, for political reasons. In Ukraine, the husband and wife received refugee status and ran their own YouTube channel, where they criticized the authorities of Kazakhstan, oligarchs and supported the protests in the country in 2022. The Kazakh authorities placed Aidos and Natalya Sadykov on the wanted list in the autumn of 2023, accusing them of inciting hatred.
On June 18, an unknown person approached a car and shot at Kazakh opposition journalist, who was sitting in the car with his wife in Shevchenkovsky district of Kyiv.
Natalya Sadykova blames the authorities of Kazakhstan for the crime.
