The number of people serving sentences in prisons decreased from 15,000 people in 2019 to 7,728 convicts in 2023. The press service of the Parliament reported, citing the Minister of Justice Almazbek Zarylbek uulu.
Parliament deputies got acquainted with the activities of the probation department under the Ministry of Justice.
«One of the most important achievements of the probation institution is reducing the number of prisoners in prisons by 50 percent that helps reduce the influence of criminal ideology,» Almazbek Zarylbek uulu said.
As of June 1, 2024, the total number of clients of the probation department is 11,671 people.
