The internal affairs bodies have investigated 358 criminal cases related to pyramid schemes, completed the investigation of 217 criminal cases, sent to the courts 98 criminal cases for 12 months of 2023. The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reported.
According to its data, most criminal cases were registered in Jalal-Abad, Issyk-Kul regions and Bishkek.
The total number of victims from the actions of fraudsters exceeded 350 people, the material damage caused amounted to more than 68 million soms. At least 40 people have been brought to criminal responsibility.
«Fraudsters are usually good manipulators and know how to influence people psychologically and emotionally, inventing new ways to get money. Pyramid scheme is one of the most common types of fraud, they can masquerade as almost any form of organization. Citizens, trying to get «easy» money, in a short period of time find themselves in debt to «benefactors» who promise big dividends,» the Interior Ministry said.
The police urge citizens to remember that before investing their honestly earned money in any organizations, to carefully assess the situation, do not be afraid or embarrassed to ask questions and request documents. Big profits are impossible without big risks.
