Kyrgyzstan applies for participation in Buddhist International Film Festival

Filmmakers from seven countries have submitted applications to participate in the Buddhist International Film Festival, which will be held in the spring of 2024 in Tuva. TASS reports this with reference to the president of the film competition,Vitaly Petrov.

According to him, Russia, Belarus, Azerbaijan, the USA, Great Britain, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan, which presented 18 films, are among the participants.

«The purpose of the festival is to popularize the development of Buddhist culture through cinema. This does not mean that not only religious films will be presented. It is important to convey the basic principles of Buddhism and show how the regions in which it is practiced live,» Vitaly Petrov noted.

The Buddhist International Film Festival has been taking place in Tuva since 2022.
