Kamchybek Tashiev: Market owners must reduce the cost of renting retail space

Chairman of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS) Kamchybek Tashiev commented on a series of rallies held by vendors in Kyrgyzstan. The SCNS press center reported.

The owners of shopping and market complexes are the richest people in the country, who receive enormous incomes. However, despite the fact that sellers pay large sums, basic conditions are not created in most markets.

He added that to facilitate the work of vendors, market owners first of all need to reduce the rental cost by at least half. «In addition, small entrepreneurs who find it difficult to purchase cash registers must be provided with free cash registers,» the SCNS chairman said.

He asked the population not to succumb to various provocations, and the provocateurs not to transfer socio-economic issues into the political plane.

Rallies of market sellers have been held across the country since November 29. Protests took place at Osh market and in the park near the monument to Maxim Gorky on Tuesday. Sellers of markets and shops in Kara-Balta also held protest. Vendors from Dordoi, Orto-Sai market, Madina, Alamedin, Taatan, Aziz, and Chynar markets also held rally, as well as sellers at Kara-Suu market in Osh region. Rallies took place in Osh, Talas and Karakol. All entrepreneurs have the same requirements — to allow use of licenses for trade and to abolish mandatory use of cash registers.

The President gave them a six-month deferment — until July 2024.
