Border guards at Dostuk-Avtodorozhny checkpoint prevented an illegal transportation of funds across the border. The Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan reported.
At about 8.30 a.m. a citizen of the Russian Federation, 42, arrived at the checkpoint. During border control, $10,200 was found, which he did not declare.
The detainee and the money were handed over to employees of the competent authorities for further proceedings.
The Border Service of the State Committee for National Security reminded that a temporary ban has been imposed on the export of cash foreign currency from the Kyrgyz Republic:
- Non-residents and foreign citizens — $5,000 in cash;
- Residents and citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic — $10,000 in cash.
If the exported amount exceeds the limit, a payment of 10 percent of the amount exceeding the established limit is charged.
