Participants of the meeting of Foreign Ministers of the European Union and Central Asian countries in Luxembourg discussed a number of issues. The main topic of discussion between EU countries and Central Asian states was the fight against circumventing European sanctions against Russia, as well as issues of trade relations, cooperation and security. As a result, a joint communiqué was adopted.
It is noted that Brussels «stressed the importance of preventing circumvention of sanctions.» The countries of Central Asia «agreed to continue their cooperation in this regard.»
The European Union, the statement says, informed the meeting participants about 11 packages of sanctions against Russia, and also emphasized «the importance of result-oriented dialogue and cooperation in the context of the EU sanctions regimes.»
The meeting was attended by the Foreign Ministers of the EU countries, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
Josep Borrell, High Representative of the European Union, said that the European Union and Central Asian countries would hold a summit in the first half of next year.
