Children's polyclinics to be opened in Bishkek and Osh cities

Children’s consultative polyclinics will appear in Bishkek and Osh cities. Minister of Health of Kyrgyzstan Alymkadyr Beishenaliev told 24.kg news agency.

According to him, four buildings will be provided in the capital for these purposes — one in each district and one in the southern capital.

«Currently, preparatory work is underway, staffing schedule is being drawn up, and so on. The issue will be completely resolved within a month. One of the polyclinics, for example, will be located at the intersection of Kievskaya Street and Manas Avenue. There is a branch of the Family Medicine Center No. 7 now, but before there was a children’s polyclinic,» Alymkadyr Beishenaliev said.

Answering the question where the adult patients would be transferred, he replied that patients would go to the Family Medicine Center No. 7 near the National Hospital.

«We are working on these moments. We will think about it in other regions of the republic. The main crowding is now in Bishkek and Osh. We pay attention to pediatrics, because children are our future,» the minister added.

It was previously reported that in Soviet times there were about 20 children’s polyclinics in the capital. There are only 700 pediatricians in the entire country, or 0.8 per 10,000 children now. The situation is especially difficult in regions where there are 0.3-0.5 pediatricians per 10,000 people.

At the beginning of 2023, the head of the Cabinet of Ministers instructed the Ministry of Health to improve the provision of medical care to children by restoring pediatric services in healthcare organizations.
