A man accused of murdering a seven-year-old girl in Orto-Nura village, Naryn region, was sentenced by a district court to 12 years in prison. The press service of the court reported to 24.kg news agency.
The decision was made on August 22. The child was raped and the murder was committed with extreme cruelty. Given these facts, the court should have sentenced the man to life imprisonment.
«But, according to paragraph 2 of Article 68 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, women, persons who committed a crime at the age under 18, or men who reached 60 at the time of the crime are not sentenced to life imprisonment. At the time the crime was committed, the accused was 64 years old,» the press service of the court noted.
The victim appealed to a higher authority against the district court’s verdict. The case will be heard in the regional court next week.
The child was killed on April 28 of this year. The body was found in an abandoned house. 64-year-old local resident was detained as a suspect. He was drunk at the time of his arrest. The case was opened under the article «Murder».
