Batken and Sughd authorities urge to avoid harsh statements about borders

The head of Sughd region of Tajikistan, Rajabboy Akhmadzoda, met with the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of Kyrgyzstan in Batken region, Abdikarim Alimbaev. TASS reports, citing the press service of the Chairman of the Tajik region.

«The parties agreed to avoid harsh statements on the topic of the border, and also called on citizens not to trust unverified information on the Internet. In recent days, materials published in the media related to the Tajik-Kyrgyz border have caused disputes on social media. In this regard, the need was noted for the parties to refrain from incorrect assessment of issues related to the Tajik-Kyrgyz border,» the statement says.

According to the press service, the parties noted that «residents should also not trust unverified unofficial information, which may be a provocation on the part of interested parties» and urged them to believe only official reports from authorities. Also, Rajabboy Akhmadzoda and Abdikarim Alimbaev stressed that emerging issues must be resolved through peaceful negotiations.

Earlier, the head of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan, Kamchybek Tashiev, called on the Tajik authorities to abandon territorial claims against Kyrgyzstan. The video was published on social media. Immediately after the publication of this information, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kyrgyzstan to Tajikistan Erlan Abdyldaev was invited to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan.
