Kyrgyz athletes won five medals at the World Wrestling Championships in Belgrade (Serbia). Kyrgyzstan took the third place in the team scoring.
Aisulu Tynybekova, Akzhol Makhmudov and Zholaman Sharshenbekov won gold medals.
Aisulu Tynybekova became three times world champion — such a result was achieved for the first time in the history of Kyrgyzstan.
Akzhol Makhmudov is now a two-time world champion. Zholaman Sharshenbekov also became a two-time world champion.
Aiperi Medet kyzy won a silver medal, and Taiyrbek Zhumashbek uulu won bronze.
Kyrgyzstan has so far secured five berths at the 2024 Olympic Games. Aiperi Medet kyzy and Aisulu Tynybekova (freestyle wrestling), Denis Petrashov (swimming), Akzhol Makhmudov and Zholaman Sharshenbekov (Greco-Roman wrestling) have the main sports season ahead.
