Entrepreneurs from Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan sign contracts for $65 million

Business representatives of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan at the First Forum of Interregional Cooperation, which ended in Taraz city, signed agreements and contracts for $65 million. Press service of the government of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported.

«Following the results of two days of the forum, a number of commercial documents for about $65 million were signed, providing for the supply of poultry meat, medical and confectionery products, complex microfertilizers, ammophos, sodium cyanide, limestone and slatestone, provision of trade and intermediary services, as well as the implementation of initiatives in the light industry and banking sector,» the press service said.

Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov, speaking at the forum, stressed that the countries have established effective investment cooperation. Since 2005, Kazakh companies have invested almost $1.3 billion in the Kyrgyz economy. Almost $200 million was invested in 2022 alone, which is 2.5 times more compared to the previous period.

According to Alikhan Smailov, 3,500 joint ventures are successfully operating in Kazakhstan, and about 200 new companies have joined their ranks since last year.

«Undoubtedly, the possibilities of our investment cooperation are much wider and we are interested in further implementation of joint projects,» he said.

At the end of the forum, the heads of Shymkent and Osh cities, as well as Aktobe and Jalal-Abad regions signed memorandums on the establishment of twin-city ties.
