President meets with Special Representative of UN Secretary-General Kaha Imnadze

The President of Kyrgyzstan met with the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General — Head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia Kaha Imnadze.

The sides exchanged views on a wide range of aspects of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the Center, in particular on countering terrorism and combating drug trafficking, as well as on the situation in Afghanistan.

Sadyr Japarov touched upon the issues of regional partnership between the states of the region and noted with satisfaction the consultative meetings of the heads of Central Asian countries held on a regular basis.

He mentioned the 4th Consultative Meeting of Presidents of the region’s states in July 2022 in Cholpon-Ata and the signed Treaty on Friendship, Good Neighborliness and Cooperation for the Development of Central Asia in the XXI century. The document is aimed at further strengthening relations of friendship, good-neighborliness and strategic partnership, which meets the fundamental interests of the peoples of Central Asia.

The head of state also expressed confidence that the upcoming 5th consultative meeting in Dushanbe will provide a good opportunity to discuss a wide range of issues of regional interaction and joint response to challenges and threats emanating from outside.

Kaha Imnadze congratulated the President and the people of Kyrgyzstan on the upcoming Independence Day. He noted the republic’s significant contribution to peace-building and promotion of dialogue in the region, emphasizing the successful resolution of border issues between the Kyrgyz Republic and Uzbekistan.

Kaha Imnadze assured that all programs of the center will be developed and continued.
