President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov received a delegation of the European Parliament headed by the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs David McAllister. Press service of the head of state reported.
The sides exchanged views on further cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the European Union in key areas of interaction, including regional cooperation. Sadyr Japarov, recalling the special place of the EU in the foreign policy of the Kyrgyz Republic, noted that over the years of independence, relations between Kyrgyzstan and the European Union have been developing on the basis of trust and friendship.
The President stated that over the past 31 years, bilateral cooperation has been strengthened in almost all areas of mutual interest, including the effective inter-parliamentary interaction. He expressed hope for further strengthening of relations with the EU and emphasized the key role of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement, which is awaiting signing.
One of the main directions of this interaction is economic development.
In turn, David McAllister expressed satisfaction with the development and the current level of bilateral relations in the political and economic spheres, as well as in addressing regional issues. In addition, he expressed the willingness of the European Parliament to strengthen and deepen cooperation, providing the necessary support to Kyrgyzstan.
During the conversation, the head of the European Parliament’s delegation confirmed the invitation to the Kyrgyz side to visit Brussels.
«David McAllister stressed the significant role and great contribution of the President Sadyr Japarov in strengthening cooperation between the countries of Central Asia and the EU. The parties confirmed their readiness to continue dialogue on topical areas of bilateral interaction,» the statement says.
