Administration of Turkestan region reported the circumstances of the tragedy that resulted in death of 11 people on Syr Darya river. Tengrinews.kz reports.
The press service of the regional administration reported that on August 21 at about 6 p.m. it received a message from residents about drowning of people. Eleven out of 20 people who came to swim drowned. They are five children and six adults.
Eight bodies were taken out of the water, search for the rest continues. An operational headquarters was created at the regional department of emergency situations, employees of the administration of Otyrar district, district department of emergency situations, forestry, volunteers were sent to the scene, who immediately started search activities.
In total, 144 brigades, 16 units of equipment and six swimming vehicles are involved in the search activities. The issue is under the direct control of the head of the region Darkhan Amangeldievich.
The press service added that the deputy heads of the region visited the site of the tragedy. They also visited the homes of the victims and expressed condolences to the relatives. They will be provided with appropriate assistance.
At night on August 21 it was reported that 11 people drowned near the bridge in Syr Darya river in Turkestan region of Kazakhstan.
