Water flow control devices installed at gauging stations in Chui region

Ultrasonic devices were installed at gauging stations in Chui region of Kyrgyzstan to control the flow of irrigation water. Press service of the Ministry of Agriculture reported.

Demonstration of an automated water metering and distribution system installed on experimental irrigation canals took place on August 18.

As noted, the ultrasonic level gauges for controlling water flow are a domestic invention. The devices were developed by scientists of the Kyrgyz Research Institute of Irrigation to solve the problem of accounting of water entering the fields during the low water period.

«Water level sensors are installed at gauging stations as additional modern technological means. Devices emit ultrasonic pulses that are reflected on the surface of the water. Special equipment records the time of reflection of the pulses and then this information is sent to the computer. Thus, the system makes it possible to obtain operational data on the water level in the canals,» the statement says.

According to scientists, the cost of domestic development is much lower than foreign models.
