Net inflow of remittances into Kyrgyzstan continues to decrease

The downward trend in the level of net inflow of remittances to Kyrgyzstan continues. The head of the Financial Statistics and Review Department of the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan Meder Abdyrakhmanov told at a press conference.

According to preliminary data, in the first half of 2023, the net inflow of remittances into the country reached $704.6 million. Compared to the same period last year, the figure decreased by 28.5 percent.

«The trend of increasing remittances to Turkey also continues. We believe that in addition to remittances, trade transactions are also carried out through the systems. Due to changes in the logistical supply chains of goods, some of the goods to us come from Turkey. We assume that the outflow of money to this country is associated with the financing of trade operations, in addition to remittances that are usually sent,» Meder Abdyrakhmanov said.
