Police Major was detained while trying to sell firearms and ammunition. Press center of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS) reported.
A criminal case has been initiated under the articles «Abuse of official position» and «Illicit trafficking in weapons» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. The detainee was systematically engaged in the illegal sale of pistols, rifles and ammunition acquired during the years of service in the police.
«An arsenal of weapons and ammunition was found during a search at the place of residence of the policeman, in particular, rifles of various calibers, stun and tear grenades, cartridges from a Makarov pistol, a Kalashnikov assault rifle, as well as sniper rifles and pump-action cartridges. The detainee was placed in the pre-trial detention center of the SCNS,» the state committee said.
24.kg news agency learned from own sources that the detainee is a district police officer in Manas village.
