Bishkek hosted inter-MFA consultations within the framework of the CIS on the topic «Countering new challenges and threats.» The Foreign Affairs Ministry of Russia reported.
This annual meeting brings together representatives of the Foreign Ministries of the Commonwealth member states to discuss a wide range of issues of cooperation in the fight against common security threats, such as terrorism, including the problem of countering its financing, extremism and drug trafficking.
This year, the event was attended by delegations from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, the CIS Executive Committee, the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center.
«The consultations were held in a traditionally friendly atmosphere. Participants of the meeting thoroughly exchanged views on topical issues of interaction in the fight against modern security challenges and threats and confirmed their firm commitment to the progressive development of cooperation between the CIS member states in this area, including further coordination of positions on various international platforms,» the statement says.
