«It is necessary to speed up the construction of schools in the CIS that teach children in Russian, as well as the training of teachers for such educational institutions,» the draft resolution of the State Duma of Russia, published on June 23 in the chamber’s electronic database, says. The draft resolution was prepared based on the results of an «government hour» and the speech of the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Alexey Overchuk.
According to the document, it is proposed to establish the specifics of the legal status of interstate higher education institutions in order to improve the regulation of Slavic universities established under international treaties of the Russian Federation. The deputies also call for speeding up the construction of Russian-language schools in the CIS and training of teachers to work in them.
Earlier it was reported that Russian entered the top five languages of the world. The index of the position of the Russian language in the world was presented by the staff of the Center for Language Policy and International Education of the Pushkin Institute, who found out that 255 million people currently speak it.
