Deputies of the City Council of Tash-Kumyr were detained for extortion. Press center of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan reported.
«It was found out that the deputy chairman of the City Council and its deputy extorted money from the head of the local government body. For refusal, they threatened with checks and raising the issue of compliance of the head with the position held at a meeting of the City Council,» the statement says.
The suspects were caught red-handed on May 31 while taking 25,000 soms.
A criminal case was initiated under Article 208 (extortion) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. By a court decision, the deputies were taken into custody for a period of two months.
