Ombudswoman of Kyrgyzstan Jamilya Dzhamanbaeva and UN Resident Coordinator Antje Grawe, as well as Acting UN Regional Representative for Human Rights in Central Asia Fabio Piana held a meeting.
The parties discussed strengthening of cooperation in the field of protection of the rights of citizens, outlined joint steps for interaction with the UN human rights mechanisms.
Antje Grawe noted that the UN system in Kyrgyzstan looks forward to continued cooperation with the Ombudsman, including by providing technical advice on the draft law on the Ombudsman.
«Celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights this year provides us with a unique opportunity to collaborate in joint initiatives and events, promoting the universality of human rights and expanding civic space so that the implementation of human rights becomes a reality in the Kyrgyz Republic,» Fabio Piana added.
Jamilya Dzhamanbaeva noted that the national human rights body was interested in further close cooperation with the UN and its structural divisions.
According to her, the Institute of Ombudsman will pay special attention to issues of interaction with UN human rights mechanisms.
