Preliminary hearing on the lawsuit of Vecherniy Bishkek CJSC against Kaktus.media has started in the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek.
The reason for the lawsuit was the information published on the website about the closure of Vecherniy Bishkek newspaper and dismissal of its employees.
The amount of the claim is 50 million soms.
Of these, 25 million are demanded from a journalist Dilya Yusupova, editor-in-chief Natalya Timirbaeva, as well as from the founder of the media outlet Dina Maslova. Other 25 million soms are demanded from the media outlet itself.
The CJSC believes that the news item contains incorrect information about the closure of the newspaper and its bankruptcy. The company also demands to publish a retraction.
Judge Zhyldyz Saidyldayeva asked if it was possible to dismiss the case due to conciliation of the parties. But the defendant refused.
The trial will continue on February 28.
