Russia reduces quota for duty-free import of fuel for Kyrgyzstan

The indicative balance for duty-free fuel supplies between Russia and Kyrgyzstan for 2023 was adopted with a reduction. The President of the Oil Traders Association Kanat Eshatov told 24.kg news agency.

According to him, the annual consumption of fuels and lubricants in Kyrgyzstan is about 1.5 million tons. At least 100,000-150,000 tons of them are produced domestically, and 1.2 million tons are imported from Russia duty-free. But the supply plan for 2023 is set below the last year level.

«Two years ago, we increased the volume of duty-free import of fuel and lubricants. Last year, the indicative balance was 650,000 tons of gasoline and 550,000 tons of diesel. This year the figures are 460,000 and 485,000 tons, respectively. We do not know why this happened. Allegedly, they could not prove to the Russian Federation that we need such volumes of fuel. But if there is a need, we are ready to increase the balance. Therefore, we say that it is necessary to revise the quotas for duty-free import of fuel,» Kanat Eshatov concluded.
