According to him, law enforcement agencies resumed the seven-year-old criminal case against the activist, which had been terminated due to lack of corpus delicti.
«Atai was also charged with another attempt to seize power. According to investigators, on October 5, 2020, Atai seized the Bishkek City Hall. The materials of the case were collected by the employees of the State Committee for National Security in June 2022. Security officers testified that they had seen Jooshbek Koenaliev and Atai Beishenbek. The case was sent to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. He was charged yesterday,» Kanat Khasanov told.
The lawyer clarified that his client was also charged with another episode related to the rallies, at which the activist spoke, noting that three criminal cases are being investigated.
«When the musician Vikram Ruzakhunov was beaten up in Kazakhstan, Atai staged a one-man protest outside the Kazakhstan’s Embassy in Bishkek. He also participated in a rally in support of akyn Bolot Nazarov. We demanded legality then. I also participated in this event. Other citizens were also there. It is the constitutional right to participate in peaceful assemblies,» he said.
