There are no drinking water supply systems in 346 settlements in Kyrgyzstan. Deputy Head of the State Agency for Architecture, Construction, Housing and Communal Services, Zholdoshbek Abdraev, announced at a meeting of the Committee on Agrarian Policy, Water Resources, Ecology and Regional Development of the Parliament.
According to him, construction of a water pipeline is needed in 822 villages.
«At least 545 villages were provided with drinking water through investments of €110 million from the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank in 2000-2014. There are no water pipes in 346 settlements, in 476 they were built in 1940-1970,» Zholdoshbek Abdraev said.
According to the official, 39 villages were provided with drinking water in 2022, about 11 of them — at the expense of the republican budget, 2 — the local budget, the rest — at the expense of donors.
