Social and emotional skills of school students assessed in Kyrgyzstan

The social and emotional skills of school students are assessed in Kyrgyzstan. Press service of the Ministry of Education and Science reported.

According to it, such a study is being conducted in the country for the first time.

The testing will be held in Chui region in December. Students of grades 4 and 8 of 42 schools with Kyrgyz and Russian languages of instruction will participate in the testing.

«The survey will take a snapshot of students’ social and emotional skills and assess the key factors influencing the development of these skills. The study does not test the cognitive skills of students,» the ministry said.

Social and emotional skills are skills that enable people to:

  • Recognize emotions and manage them;
  • Successfully deal with conflicts;
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships;
  • Understand and empathize with others;
  • Follow ethics, make a constructive contribution to the community;

The study was organized as part of the Education for the Future project with the financial support of the World Bank.
