Prices in Kyrgyzstan rise due to wage increase and expatriates

Inflation rate is expected to remain high this year — at about 15 percent. This conclusion was made by the experts of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) following the results of their mission to Kyrgyzstan.

It is noted that inflation will remain high due to a strong wage increase and a temporary increase in demand for goods due to the influx of Russian migrants. It will fall to around 10 percent only by the end of 2023 as the food and energy sources prices decline and remittances decrease amid a slowdown in Russia.

«In the medium term, inflation is projected to return to mid-single digits, supported by an adequately adjusted monetary policy,» the IMF said.
