Representatives of the People’s Kurultai discussed the mass detentions of activists with the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov. Kadyr Koshaliev, chairman of the first People’s Kurultai, said this in an interview with Azattyk.
According to him, 12 members of the Kurultai met with the head of state.
«This issue should be considered from two positions: freedom of speech separately — as our wealth, and there should be a different attitude towards calls for revolution. We said that there were women among the detainees, and winter had come. Judicial and law enforcement agencies, having it considered, will make a fair decision. At the meeting, some suggested the president to show generosity. I think, if not all, then some will be released,» said Kadyr Koshaliev.
According to the chairman of the People’s Kurultai, the president replied that the case of the detained activists was investigated within the framework of the law.
«He said that some of the detainees received money from abroad to destabilize and call for revolution. He replied that he supported our opinion that case of each of them should be investigated separately and it was necessary to find out who simply expressed their opinion and who posed a threat to the state,» Kadyr Koshaliev said.
