Deported journalist Bolot Temirov tells about future plans

Investigative journalist Bolot Temirov intends to appeal the verdict of the Bishkek City Court. He told it to 24.kg news agency.

According to the journalist, his expulsion from the country looked like he was a dangerous criminal or recidivist. The deportation procedure involved from seven to eight employees of the Central Internal Affairs Directorate of the capital, as well as the Service for Combating Extremism and Illegal Migration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (10th department).

«For four hours they kept me at the police department at Manas airport, they tried to draw up a certificate of return to my homeland through the Russian Embassy. But the police officers failed to do this, so they sent me without documents, accompanied by two other officers, to Moscow. They had to wait for a court order there. It was sent at about 1 a.m. Bishkek time.

I was interrogated by officers of the Border Service of the FSB of the Russian Federation, who themselves were surprised by the situation. They asked me why I was expelled. I replied. They treated me like a Russian citizen, they had no claims.

I told the Russian border guards that I was expelled for allegedly incorrect obtaining of a passport of a citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic 14 years ago. I also said that I was born in Kyrgyzstan during the Soviet era. The border guards replied that in this case they did not understand why I was expelled,» he said.

The journalist noted that the border guards quickly found him in the Russian database, but he arrived in Moscow without any documents. He did not have a Russian passport, which Bolot Temirov did not use for a long time. It was left in Bishkek.

«I will appeal against the ruling of the court. It was made in clear violation of the law. We will go through all the judicial instances in Kyrgyzstan and bring this case to the international court,» Bolot Temirov stressed.

Bolot Temirov was expelled from the country by court decision on November 23. Immediately after the trial, where the verdict was announced, he was taken by force, accompanied by law enforcement officers, to the airport and sent by plane to Russia.

Earlier, the Sverdlovsky District Court acquitted Bolot Temirov on two counts. The case was dismissed on two more, including on a fake passport, due to expiration of the statute of limitations. The court did not apply punishment to the journalist.
