Number of tourists from Russia in Kyrgyzstan could increase by 40 percent

The number of Russian tourists coming to Kyrgyzstan this year could increase by at least 40 percent. President of the Tourism Development Support Fund of the Kyrgyz Republic, Elena Kalashnikova, announced on the sidelines of the international tourism forum Commonwealth Travel Hub.

According to her, the flow of tourists from Russia is increasing rapidly.

«I expect an increase this year. If we compare, let’s do not take into account the 2020 and 2021 pandemic years, and take 2019 as 100 percent, then I expect an increase in number of Russian tourists by at least 40 percent,» Elena Kalashnikova said.

She noted that Kyrgyzstan is investing in the development of tourism and began to popularize the country for foreign tourists. She added that an increase in the flow of tourists to the Kyrgyz Republic is also expected in 2023.

According to the President of the Tourism Development Support Fund, the Kyrgyz Republic is a very interesting destination for Russian citizens. Firstly, one can enter the country with an internal passport; secondly, Russian tourists are attracted by the absence of a language barrier.

In addition, according to Elena Kalashnikova, the Kyrgyz Republic is an inexpensive country for traveling with an excellent range of services.

She named trips to Issyk-Kul lake as one of the most popular types of tourism. These are beach recreation and sanatorium-resort therapy.

According to ADB data, as of September, 3.8 million foreign citizens visited Kyrgyzstan for seven months of 2022.
