Kyrgyzstan joins Climate Vulnerable Forum

Kyrgyzstan became the first state in the region of Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the Caucasus to join the Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF). Press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision reported.

According to the ministry, the forum is a platform that brings together countries that are most vulnerable to climate change and produce the least amount of emissions. They defend interests in international negotiations together, strengthen each other’s positions and set an example for ambitious climate policy.

Deputy Minister Beksultan Ibraimov noted that Kyrgyzstan updated its Nationally Determined Contribution last year.

«We aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 44 percent by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 with the strong support of our international development partners,» he said.
