The 6th summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) has started in Astana. It is attended by the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov.
Opening the event, the head of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, noted that all CICA countries are united by a common desire for peace and cooperation. But despite creative efforts, the world is not becoming safer.
«Today we are living in an unprecedented geopolitical storm and a growing global economic crisis. This phenomenon is called global dysfunction. Since the previous CICA summit in 2019, the world community has experienced severe trials, the negative consequences of which continue to affect global development. In my opinion, a particularly important task we are facing is to achieve stability in international relations in the face of emerging unprecedented threats. It is critically important to give new impetus to multilateral mechanisms and return to an open dialogue,» the President of Kazakhstan said.
He also expressed his opinion what topics are now most important for the effective development of Asia. Among other things, the issues of transformation of logistics routes, ecology, food security and the work of large financial institutions in the region were mentioned.
