Kyrgyzstan continues work on amending CSTO charter

First Deputy Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan Nuran Niyazaliev took part in the consultations of Deputy Foreign Ministers of the member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). Press service of the Foreign Affairs Ministry reported.

Issues of preparation for the upcoming joint meetings of the Council of Foreign Ministers and Defense Ministers, as well as the Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils and the regular session of the CSTO Collective Security Council were considered. In particular, the delegations discussed and finalized a number of important documents, exchanged views on topical security issues, and stressed the importance of joint confronting new challenges and threats.

«Nuran Niyazaliev informed the participants of the consultations about the consequences of Tajikistan’s military aggression against Kyrgyzstan. He called on the parties to launch the CSTO mechanisms as soon as possible to prevent further armed invasion and resolve all disputes between states by peaceful means in accordance with the Collective Security Treaty and the CSTO charter. In this context, it was proposed to adopt a joint statement and make additions to the CSTO statutory documents,» the statement says.
