State center for rehabilitation of disabled to be created in Kyrgyzstan

The Ministry of Labour, Social Security and Migration of Kyrgyzstan submitted for public discussion a draft resolution on the establishment of a rehabilitation center for people with disabilities on its basis.

More than 200,000 people with disabilities live in Kyrgyzstan, including more than 35,000 children. Over 81,000 people are recipients of social benefits.

More than 122,700 people receive disability pensions through the Social Fund. Their average size is 6,413 soms.

The Ministry of Labor believes that it is necessary to develop rehabilitation services in the republic on a state basis and free of charge since rehabilitation is very expensive in private medical centers.

The relevant ministry proposes to create a center where people with disabilities can take a rehabilitation course for free. Its opening requires annual allocation of additional 27 million soms from the republican budget.
