Sadyr Japarov meets with Vladimir Putin

The Presidents of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov and Russia Vladimir Putin met in Samarkand (Uzbekistan) on the sidelines of the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Press service of the head of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

The parties discussed topical issues of Kyrgyz-Russian bilateral cooperation, the state and prospects for the development of cooperation in various fields.

Sadyr Japarov noted that relations between the two countries are highly dynamic both on a bilateral basis and within the framework of international organizations and integration associations. He stressed that Russia is traditionally one of the leading trade and economic partners of Kyrgyzstan. According to Japarov, in the first half of this year, a two-fold increase in mutual trade was registered compared to last year.

«Investment projects are being successfully implemented, including with the support of the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund. To date, the RKDF has approved more than 3,200 projects worth $440 million. Another priority area of ​​Kyrgyz-Russian cooperation is the humanitarian sphere. Start of construction of general education schools on the territory of Kyrgyzstan with the Russian language of instruction is expected,» the head of state said.

He expressed confidence that today’s meeting would further strengthen the Kyrgyz-Russian multifaceted partnership and the practical implementation of issues that are on the bilateral agenda.

In turn, Vladimir Putin noted that Russia and Kyrgyzstan are close countries, strategic partners and allies working together within a number of regional organizations.

«Russia remains the leading trade and economic partner of Kyrgyzstan. Last year, the growth in trade was noticeable, and this year the volume is growing, and at a very good pace. It grew by 46.6 percent last year. This is a very good indicator,» he said.

The Russian leader stressed that the Russian side continues to provide economic support to Kyrgyzstan and is ready to provide technical assistance in the field of emergency response and natural disasters. He recalled that an order of the Russian government was signed in July 2022 on the supply of fire and helicopter equipment to the Kyrgyz Republic with the allocation of almost 1.5 billion rubles from the Russian budget for these purposes.

Vladimir Putin also drew attention to the development of cultural and humanitarian ties between Russia and Kyrgyzstan.

The heads of state expressed their readiness to continue mutually beneficial cooperation in various areas.
