President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov paid tribute to memory of the first head of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov.
Having arrived in Samarkand to attend a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, he visited Hazrat Khizr complex, where the mausoleum of Islam Karimov is located.
The head of state laid flowers on the tombstone, and a memorial prayer was said.
Hazrat Khizr mosque is a unique monument of antiquity in Samarkand, included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Islam Karimov was buried next to the mosque in 2016.
