The labor force amounted to 2.7 million people at the end of 2021. The head of the Department of Labor and Employment Statistics of the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, Gulnara Dzhailobaeva, told journalists.
According to her, including 1.7 million men and 1 million women worked in the country. The maximum labor activity for men is reached at the age of 30-34 years, and for women — 45-48 years. Most of the employed are registered in Osh — 632,000 people, Jalal-Abad — 396,000 and Chui — 357,000 regions.
«The structure of employment is characterized by a clear dominance of agriculture. This sector, together with forestry and fisheries, accounts for 18 percent of all employed. The second largest employer is wholesale and retail trade, auto and motorcycle repair, which provide 15.4 percent of all employment. Construction takes the 3rd place, which employs 12.4 percent,» Gulnara Dzhailobaeva told.
