Dollarization of the loan portfolio continued to update its historical lows and reached 24.3 percent in June. The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan provided such data.
Since the beginning of the year, the indicator has decreased by 3.6 percent. At the same time, the loan portfolio of commercial banks grew due to an increase in loans in the national currency. In June 2022, their number increased by 9.7 percent since December 2021. Consumer loans and agriculture demonstrated high lending rates. Loans for trade grew relatively slowly.
The loan portfolio in foreign currency continued to decrease and reduced by 8.8 percent since the beginning of the year.
Interest rates of the loan portfolio in the national currency increased in January-June 2022 against the backdrop of tightening monetary policy. Rates on loans in soms amounted to 17 percent, having increased by 0.7 percent since the beginning of the year. Rates in foreign currency amounted to 9.2 percent and increased by 0.3 percent.
«The share of overdue loans in the loan portfolio increased by 0.2 percent since the beginning of the year and amounted to 2.7 percent. The share of extended loans in relation to the loan portfolio was lower than in 2021. But it still remains at a high level — 10.7 percent of the total loan portfolio,» the National Bank said.
