349 cargoes 200 delivered to Kyrgyzstan for 7 months of 2022

At least 349 bodies of Kyrgyzstanis who died abroad were delivered to their homeland from January 1 to July 31, 2022. Director of the Center for Employment of Citizens Abroad under the Ministry of Labour, Social Security and Migration, Kubandyk Akmatbekov, told 24.kg news agency.

According to him, one-time payments totaling 34.6 million soms were made.

Most often, cargoes 200 were delivered from Russia, as well as from Turkey, Kazakhstan, the USA, India, Korea, rarely from the United Arab Emirates, Germany, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Tajikistan and Ukraine.

Causes of death are different, including accidents, coronavirus, murders and others.

«We received less applications before, citizens’ awareness of payments has improved now. The amount of reimbursement for delivery of the body is set for each country. Since the territory of the Russian Federation is large, it depends on the districts there. For example, a one-time payment of 70,000 rubles is provided for the delivery of a body from the central part of Russia, 80,000 — from St. Petersburg, and 120,000 — from the Far East. Until April 2021, the payment was 50,000 soms regardless of the country. The state now fully covers all the costs of repatriation of the bodies of citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic,» Kubandyk Akmatbekov said.

«In order to receive compensation, a close relative must apply with a passport, as well as provide a death certificate of the deceased and confirm the relationship between them (provide a birth certificate). The deceased must be the citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic, otherwise the payment is not made,» he explained.

Kubandyk Akmatbekov noted that in case of exhumation, the payment is not provided. «If the burial has already been done abroad, and after some time the relatives decided to bring the ashes home, compensation is not paid,» the director of the center added.

Today is the Day of Mourning in Kyrgyzstan. At least 16 people were killed in a traffic accident in Ulyanovsk Oblast of Russia, 14 of them are citizens of Kyrgyzstan. Three Kyrgyzstanis survived. Bodies of the deceased will be delivered to Osh.
