State to cover expenses for repatriation of bodies of Kyrgyzstanis

Officials of the Ministry of Labour, Social Security and Migration of Kyrgyzstan have developed and submitted for public discussion a draft resolution on the provision of public services to pay and cover the costs of repatriation (transportation of bodies) of Kyrgyzstanis who died abroad.

The Center for Employment of Citizens Abroad under the Ministry of Labor is to deal with these issues. The amount of one-time payment has been determined to cover the expenses of close relatives or those who transport the body of the deceased to the Kyrgyz Republic, taking into account the country from which it will be exported.

The service for receiving the one-time payment is provided free of charge.

A close relative or acting on the basis of a notarized power of attorney from a close relative, who bears the direct costs associated with the repatriation of the body of a citizen of Kyrgyzstan, has the right to receive the money.

The application is submitted to the Center for Employment of Citizens Abroad, representative office or embassy no later than six months from the date of death. Only one person can be a recipient.

To apply, please submit an application along with the following documents:

  • Copy of the recipient’s passport;
  • Copies of documents confirming kinship (marriage certificate, birth certificate);
  • Notarized copy of the death certificate or death certificate with a mark of consular legalization or an apostille in the prescribed manner, unless otherwise is provided by international treaties that have entered into force in the manner prescribed by law, to which the Kyrgyz Republic is a party.

The recipient is responsible for the accuracy of the submitted documents. Documents and applications can also be submitted electronically.
