Two residents of Kara-Suu convicted of extremist propaganda on social media

Residents of Kara-Suu district were sentenced to prison terms for extremist propaganda on social media. The Department of Internal Affairs of Osh reported.

The Osh City Court considered the case against two citizens who distributed audio and video on the Internet about an extremist organization banned in Kyrgyzstan. They are charged under article 332 «Production and distribution of extremist materials» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Linguistic examination of the defendants’ messages published on their personal pages on social media showed that they are extremist and that citizens have connections with religious extremist organizations abroad.

Both were found guilty, one was sentenced to one year in prison, the other — to two years in prison.
