The President of Kyrgyzstan gave explanations why he convenes the People’s Kurultai. Sadyr Japarov wrote a post about it on social media.
According to the decree, the first People’s Kurultai will be held on November 25, 2022.
The President expressed regret over the fact that the Parliament did not adopt the law on the People’s Kurultai.
«Therefore, before the adoption of the law, I decided by my decree to convene a kurultai this year. All branches of power will provide the general public with reports on the work done for the year and will listen to the proposals made at the kurultai. Many people are wondering who can be elected as a delegate to the kurultai. Participants will be elected and delegated by the local people themselves. Deputies of local councils will carry out organizational work, having gathered the local population. The people will elect delegates at the meetings. The elected delegate will take part in the kurultai, which will be held in Bishkek,» Sadyr Japarov explained.
He called on the people to actively participate in the election of delegates and assured that «from now on, the kurultai will not be a mere formality, as before.»
