Uzbekistan has overtaken Russia in car production. As the National Industrial Information Agency (NAPI) reports, Uzbekistan has manufactured more cars than Russia during three months of 2022 (from April to June).
In terms of production volume, Uzbekistan overtook Russia by 20,400 cars in June: the republic produced 34,000 cars, while Russia — 13,600.
If Uzbekistan maintains the current growth rate of auto production, and output in Russia remains at the same level, then by the end of 2022 the gap between the countries may be less than 100,000 cars, experts predict.
At the same time, in terms of indicators for six months, Russia is ahead of Uzbekistan — 282,000 and 160,400 cars, respectively. This is due to the good production results from January to March. However, the production of cars in Russia has declined sharply compared to the same period in 2021. In the first half of last year, the country produced 725,003 cars, and in June of the same year — 119,400.
A drop in sales of new passenger cars and commercial vehicles (LCV) was also recorded in Russia in June 2022. They decreased by 82 percent compared to the same period last year, that is, more than five times.
