Kyrgyzstan has contracts with Russian suppliers on the import of 28,000 tons of food grain. Press service of the Ministry of Agriculture informed 24.kg news agency.
According to it, negotiations on the purchase of grain are also held with Kazakhstan. Exact volumes are not known.
«The demand of Kyrgyzstan for food grain for this year is estimated at 769,100 tons. About 75-80 percent of the volume is expected to be covered by own production,» the Ministry of Agriculture said.
Russia announced in March that the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union would receive quotas for the purchase of grain. To do this, each state had to submit production-consumption balances by March 25, 2022, on the basis of which the quotas were formed.
The Russian Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev said in early August that Russia could revise the volume of exports of food grains, if the country does not reach the planned harvest of 130 million tons.
