Wastewater treatment facilities in the cities of Issyk-Kul are inefficient. The head of the Water and Land Resources Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of Kyrgyzstan, Taalai Dalbaev, told at a briefing.
According to him, the treatment facilities in Cholpon-Ata were built in 1986, in Karakol — in 1974, and in Balykchy — in 1970. «They are in a deplorable state. Their efficiency is unsatisfactory,» he said.
Taalai Dalbaev recalled that their rehabilitation would be carried out at the expense of the ADB wastewater management project in Issyk-Kul region. «It provides for the loan and grant parts, as well as co-financing from the republican budget. The agreement was ratified in 2019, and the project is under development now,» he said.
