Cabinet intends to transfer Manas and Osh airports to Turkish company

The Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan intends to transfer the Manas and Osh airports to a Turkish company for external management for 39 years. Deputy Zhanar Akayev announced at a meeting of the Parliament.

According to him, the Turkish company was chosen without an open competition.

«We planned to hold an open competition, German and Korean companies expected to participate in it. The Cabinet of Ministers decided to transfer everything to the Turkish company YDA INSAAT for 39 years without competition. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the intergovernmental commission opposed it. The company plans to invest $557 million. But the airport brings $50 million every year, an annual growth is 5 percent. We will just pay $207 million as interest to a Turkish bank,» Zhanar Akayev said.

Deputy Shailoobek Atazov supported his colleague and offered to hear information about the airport.
