President Sadyr Japarov meets with Ombudsperson Atyr Abdrakhmatova

President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov received the Ombudsperson of the country Atyr Abdrakhmatova. Press service of the head of state reported.

They discussed topical issues in the field of protecting the rights and freedoms of man and citizen, measures to improve the activities of the Institute of Ombudsman.

The Ombudsperson informed the President about individual and collective complaints of human rights violations of people, who have not been able to achieve justice for many years.

She touched upon specific cases of human rights violations, noted the insufficient work of authorized bodies in documenting kairylmans (returnees), their socialization and provision of state support.

Atyr Abdrakhmatova stressed that in connection with the 20th anniversary of the Institute of Ombudsman of the Kyrgyz Republic, a new constitutional law on Akyikatchy (Ombudsman) is expected to be adopted this year in accordance with the requirements of the Constitution, as well as in accordance with the recommendations of the UN treaty bodies to bring the status of Ombudsman in full compliance with the Paris Principles.

At the same time, she presented the concept of the activities of the Regional Human Rights Institute under the Ombudsman, creation of which is planned for the near future.

President Sadyr Japarov noted the need to step up the work on protection of the rights and freedoms of man and citizen and promote the principles of equal observance and respect for the law by all without exception.

The head of state stressed that implementation of comprehensive and coordinated measures to protect human and civil rights is a key requirement in serving the people, stressing that all state bodies and employees are obliged to clearly and timely resolve issues of citizens at the local level.

Participants of the meeting agreed to promote the best practices in the protection of human rights in order to strengthen the country’s international rating in the field of observance of human and civil rights and freedoms and discussed measures to support cooperation between human rights organizations in Central Asia.
