At least 95.2 percent of victims of violence in Kyrgyzstan are women. A joint study by the Council for Prevention of Gender Violence under the Speaker of the Parliament and organization of the European Union — the UN Ray of Light says.
According to experts, 33 percent of them are under 40 years old, other 32 percent are women under 30.
They criticized the current legislation. The document protects victims of domestic violence only from family members, and there are also shortcomings in execution of the protection order.
The law contains inconsistency with the Convention on the Rights of the Child in terms of taking measures to protect all children, regardless of age.
